About Amanda
Hi, I’m Amanda! I’m a PhD candidate in electrical engineering with two degrees in mathematics and nearly five years of experience teaching college-level math.
My background reflects a strong blend of advanced mathematical theory and applied engineering work, which gives me a solid foundation for explaining both abstract concepts and practical applications. I’ve spent several years working in university settings, which has trained me to communicate complex ideas clearly and maintain high academic standards in my instruction.
I take a professional, structured approach to supporting students and focus on being reliable, clear, and precise in how I present material. My academic and teaching experience allows me to anticipate common areas of difficulty and address them in a way that supports long-term understanding.
I’m committed to helping students approach mathematics with greater clarity and confidence while maintaining rigor appropriate to their level of study.

Hi, I’m Amanda! I’m currently a PhD candidate in electrical engineering with two math degrees and nearly five years of experience teaching college-level mathematics. I’ve worked with a wide range of students, from those who feel completely lost in math to those aiming for top grades in demanding courses.
My teaching approach focuses on building real understanding rather than memorization. I break complex concepts down into smaller, intuitive steps and connect them to ideas students already know. I also emphasize problem-solving strategies, pattern recognition, and how to approach unfamiliar problems with confidence—skills that are essential for success in both math and engineering courses.
A typical lesson is interactive and tailored to the student’s needs. We usually start by identifying trouble areas or reviewing current material, then work through examples step-by-step together. I guide you through my thinking process, have you try similar problems, and give immediate feedback so you can build confidence as you go. I also make sure each topic connects to the bigger picture so it actually makes sense, not just for exams but for long-term understanding.
What sets me apart is my combination of advanced engineering research training and real classroom teaching experience. I understand both the theory at a deep level and the common ways students struggle with it. I’m patient, adaptable, and I adjust explanations until the material clicks.
I offer lessons for high school and college students, including algebra, precalculus, calculus (I–III), linear algebra, differential equations, and related undergraduate math and engineering math courses.
