About Abhay
Hi! I'm Abhay, a sophomore at Penn State University with a strong passion for helping students succeed in math. I graduated from high school in 2024 with an almost perfect score on the SAT Math section, a 5 on the AP Calculus exam, and a 4.6 weighted GPA. Now, I'm using what I've learned to help others build confidence and clarity in math—just like I did. My tutoring journey began when I started helping classmates and younger students with their homework and test prep. I quickly realized that I not only enjoyed explaining difficult concepts, but also had a knack for breaking them down in a way that actually made sense. As a student myself, I understand the stress of tough problem sets and high-stakes tests. My goal is to make math less overwhelming and more empowering, whether you're preparing for an exam, catching up in class, or trying to strengthen your fundamentals. As a tutor, I focus on building strong foundational understanding while helping students feel confident and capable in math. Whether you're struggling with the basics or aiming for a perfect SAT Math score, I meet you where you are and help you improve step by step.
My Teaching Method:
I begin each session by connecting with the student—identifying where they’re confident, where they’re stuck, and how they prefer to learn. I use clear explanations, relatable examples, and guided practice to help concepts click. I emphasize understanding over memorization, and I always encourage questions to keep learning interactive and supportive.
A Typical Lesson Plan Includes:
10 min: Homework corrections and quick testing on previously learned material
20 min: Introduction of a new topic with visual explanations and real-world examples
20 min: Assessment and revision—applying the new concept through practice problems, feedback, and discussion
10 min: Wrap-up, goal-setting, and tips for reinforcing the concept between sessions
