About Samaje

Good to Know

Hi, I’m Samaje! I’m a graduated college student from the College of Idaho with a strong background in reading, writing, critical thinking, and analysis. I studied Philosophy, with minors in Political Economy and Religious Studies. Through my coursework, I have spent a lot of time reading challenging texts, analyzing arguments, writing essays, and learning how to clearly communicate complex ideas.

I understand that reading and writing can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when you are working with difficult material or are not sure where to begin. As a tutor, I want to create a comfortable and supportive environment where students can ask questions, work through challenges, and build confidence in their abilities.

My approach is patient and personalized. I focus on helping students understand what they are reading, identify important ideas, organize their thoughts, and express themselves clearly in writing. Rather than simply giving students answers, I help them develop the skills and confidence to find those answers themselves.

Whether you need help with reading comprehension, an essay, understanding an assignment, organizing your ideas, or improving your writing, I will work with you step-by-step to reach your goals.

About the lesson

My Approach as a Tutor

I believe strong reading and writing skills come from understanding the material, not just memorizing information. My goal is to help students become more confident readers and writers by teaching them how to understand what they are reading, organize their thoughts, and clearly communicate their ideas.

My Teaching Method

I work with students step-by-step and adjust my approach to their individual needs. For reading and comprehension, we focus on identifying the main idea, understanding important details, making connections, analyzing difficult passages, and explaining what the author is trying to communicate.

For writing, I help students develop and organize their ideas, create stronger paragraphs, improve sentence structure, and make their writing clearer and more effective. I also help students learn how to revise and edit their own work rather than simply correcting it for them.

A Typical Lesson

A typical lesson begins by identifying what the student is currently working on and where they are having difficulty. We might read through a passage together, discuss its meaning, identify important ideas, or work through questions to improve comprehension.

For writing, we can brainstorm ideas, create an outline, work through a draft, and practice revising and editing. I want students to understand the process so they can use these skills independently in future assignments.

What Sets Me Apart

I understand that reading and writing can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when an assignment is unclear or the material is difficult to understand. I try to make the process simple, patient, and encouraging.

Rather than just giving students answers, I help them develop the skills to find answers and express their own ideas. My goal is for students to leave each lesson feeling more confident in their ability to read, understand, and communicate.

Who My Lessons Are For

I work with students who want to improve their reading, writing, and comprehension skills. This can include students who need help understanding assigned readings, answering comprehension questions, writing essays or paragraphs, organizing their ideas, revising papers, or preparing for exams.

Whether a student needs help with one assignment or wants to build stronger overall reading and writing skills, I tailor each lesson to their individual goals and level.
