About Kianna

When I was in elementary school, every evening while doing my math homework I would “teach” my stuffed animals. I had done that so often that my mom gave me a whiteboard so I could more effectively mimic my teachers who I admired so much. I admired teachers and their dedication to education, which resonated with me all those years ago and even today.

I graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s in Economics in December 2022. These days I am pursuing a master’s degree in Data Science and Engineering at North Carolina A&T. Throughout my academic career, I have taken quantitative courses including Calculus I/II, Quantitative Analysis, Econometrics, and Applied Probability and Statistics. I have also completed numerous personal and class projects utilizing R and Python including correlation analysis of EEG data and musical features and predicting COVID-19.

About the lesson

At the heart of my teaching philosophy is the belief that education is about inspiring a lifelong love for learning. My early admiration for teachers has influenced my approach where I strive to create an engaging supportive learning environment. The best thing I can do is make lessons relatable and interactive to help students grasp complex concepts more easily. This is particularly crucial for subjects like mathematics and programming. I emphasize the importance of practice and problem solving. I also integrate real-world scenarios and projects to make abstract concepts tangible, relevant, and interesting.
