About Ben

Experienced Digital/Online Lecturer for A-Level and Undergraduate Computer Science, with a specialist Postgraduate Certificate in Education for Further Education. I currently lecture undergraduate Networking and Cyber Security, as well as A-Level Computer Science. I mainly focus my teaching around practical topics, with a keen interest in programming (Python, C# - including other .NET languages, Java, SQL, Web technologies - HTML/CSS/JS/PHP and more), networking (qualified Cisco instructor) and Cyber Security (CCNA Cyber Ops). I currently lead lecturing on AQA/WJEC (Eduqas) A-Level Computer Science at a top FE college. I have developed and currently lecture undergraduate Networking and Cyber Security. I currently hold a First-Class BSc Honours degree in Computing, as well as a Postgraduate Certificate in Education for Further Education (PGCE), alongside other technical qualifications, such as Cisco CCNA R+S - I am a qualified Cisco instructor. I have taught online using a blended delivery method (mix of face-face and online delivery) for the past four years, to great success. This has been through innovative use of my own Computer Science resource website for learners to self-pace gaining knowledge and understanding and Microsoft Teams/Zoom for interactive live sessions. I find that teaching can be most efficient when students take the time before lessons to interact with introductions to subjects, where contact time can be spent more efficiently engaging with some of the more complex concepts.
