About Eileen
I have taught second and fifth grades, tutored high school students in chemistry, biology, algebra, and geometry, and previously worked in the environmental science field. In my teaching experience, I strove to teach the whole student through standards-based lessons, small group activities targeting students’ learning levels, and the use of positive reinforcement to address behavior. My teaching philosophy is that curricula should be research based, while implementation should be student centered and equitable, because all students learn in different ways. As an elementary teacher, I focused on running small group rotations based on reading levels to target students’ specific learning needs. Math lessons were taught as a whole class, with accommodations for students with IEPs, so that I could incorporate time for game-based learning. As a teacher, I am constantly improving on my ability to adapt to student needs in a dynamic environment. I find this resilience and durability to be my greatest strength across grade levels subjects.
