About Mildrica
About Me
I am a certified elementary educator with over eight years of experience helping students grow in reading and language arts. I have worked with children across multiple grade levels and learning abilities, and I understand that every child learns differently.
As a tutor, I create a safe, encouraging, and structured learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and taking academic risks. Lessons are carefully planned, easy to understand, and designed to build both skills and confidence. I use clear explanations, visual supports, and step-by-step instruction to help students truly understand what they are learning.
I believe strong relationships are the foundation of success. I take time to get to know each student—their interests, strengths, and challenges—so learning feels meaningful and engaging. Parents can expect consistent communication, professionalism, and a focus on steady progress.
My goal is for students to leave each session feeling proud of their effort, confident in their abilities, and excited to learn.

My Tutoring Approach and Teaching Style
As an elementary ELA tutor for students in grades K–6, my teaching approach is rooted in explicit instruction, visual supports, and relationship-building. I believe students learn best when expectations are clear, lessons are engaging, and they feel valued and understood.
I teach ELA concepts explicitly by breaking skills down into clear, manageable steps. I use visual aids such as anchor charts, graphic organizers, modeled examples, and guided practice to help students understand reading and writing strategies. This approach supports diverse learning styles and helps students build confidence as they master new skills.
Typical Lesson Structure
A typical lesson begins with a brief check-in and skill review to build connection and assess prior understanding. I then introduce the lesson objective using visuals and modeling, followed by guided practice where students apply the skill with my support. As the lesson progresses, students move toward independent practice while I provide targeted feedback. Each session concludes with a quick reflection or assessment to measure growth and plan next steps.
What Sets Me Apart
What truly sets me apart as a tutor is my focus on building strong relationships and gaining student interest before focusing on academics. I take time to learn my students’ strengths, interests, and learning styles, which allows me to tailor lessons and keep students engaged. When students feel safe, supported, and motivated, meaningful learning happens.
Who My Lessons Are For
My lessons are designed for elementary students in grades K–6 who need support in reading, writing, comprehension, phonics, grammar, or foundational literacy skills. I work with students at varying ability levels, including those who need remediation, reinforcement, or enrichment in ELA.
