About Tina

I am a dedicated elementary educator with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Bachelor of Education with a specialization in teaching English Language Learners. I am Orton-Gillingham trained and currently completing my Master’s degree, further deepening my expertise in literacy and inclusive education. Over the past five years, I have worked as a Grade 3 teacher in a private school setting, where I have developed a strong foundation in creating engaging, student-centered learning experiences. I have extensive experience supporting diverse learners, including students with autism, ADHD, and a range of additional learning needs. I am passionate about fostering confidence, building strong literacy skills, and adapting my teaching to ensure every student feels supported, capable, and successful.

As an elementary tutor, I focus on creating a supportive, engaging, and student-centered learning environment that builds both academic skills and confidence.

My teaching approach is rooted in patience, adaptability, and active learning. I tailor each session to the student’s unique learning style—whether they learn best through visuals, hands-on activities, or discussion. I use a mix of guided practice, interactive exercises, and real-life examples to make concepts meaningful and easy to understand. Positive reinforcement and consistent feedback are central to my method, helping students stay motivated and recognize their progress.

A typical session begins with a brief review of previous material to reinforce learning and identify any gaps. I then introduce the day’s topic in a simple, engaging way, often using visual aids or relatable examples. This is followed by guided practice, where we work through problems together, and then independent practice to build confidence. I end each lesson with a recap and a short activity or homework suggestion to reinforce the concept.

What distinguishes me is my ability to connect with students and make learning enjoyable rather than stressful. I prioritize building trust and encouraging a growth mindset, helping students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I am highly adaptable, adjusting my pace and strategies to meet each child’s needs, and I focus not just on academic success but also on developing strong study habits and self-confidence.

My lessons are designed for elementary-level students (typically grades K–6) who may need extra support, enrichment, or homework help. I work with students across core subjects such as reading, writing, and math, including those who need help catching up, staying on track, or getting ahead. I also support students with different learning styles and needs, ensuring each lesson is accessible, engaging, and effective.
