About Maisum
I'm Maisum, a Machine Learning and Software Engineer with a Master's in Artificial Intelligence from Monash University and a Bachelor's in Computer Systems Engineering with Distinction. Math is at the core of my work every day, from building AI systems to statistical analysis, which gives me a very practical and grounded way of teaching it. I have formal teaching experience and work with students across all levels and ages. I'm patient, structured and genuinely enjoy helping students build real confidence in the subject.

My lessons are structured but relaxed. I start by figuring out exactly where a student is struggling rather than jumping straight into content, because fixing the gap is always more effective than just re-teaching the whole topic. From there we build up step by step, making sure each concept is solid before moving forward.
I work with students of all ages and levels, from primary school kids getting to grips with the basics, all the way to university students tackling calculus, linear algebra, statistics and beyond.
A typical session runs for an hour. The first part is usually spent reviewing what we covered last time and addressing any homework or practice problems the student got stuck on. The rest of the session focuses on new material or exam preparation, depending on what's most urgent.
My background is in engineering and AI, so I bring a very practical angle to math. I find students respond well when they can see why something matters, not just how to do it. That said, I know exams have a specific format and I make sure students are fully comfortable with that too.
I have formal teaching experience and hold a Bachelor's in Computer Systems Engineering with Distinction and a Master's in Artificial Intelligence from Monash University. I am patient, organized and genuinely enjoy seeing students have that moment where something finally clicks.
