About Ella
I am a recent Engineering graduate currently completing a Master’s in Disaster Risk and Resilience at the University of Canterbury. Throughout my studies, I experienced first-hand how the right support can help students thrive and achieve highly. While I achieved strong academic results, concepts didn’t always come easily to me, so I learned to break down complex ideas into simpler, more understandable parts. This approach not only helped my own learning but has also equipped me to support others in doing the same and finding success in their studies. In addition to formal tutoring in both NCEA and university subjects, I’ve gained further experience by regularly helping peers with their coursework and exam preparation.

I take a personalised and supportive approach to tutoring, adapting each lesson to suit the student’s individual learning style, pace, and goals. I focus on building a strong foundational understanding and confidence by breaking complex concepts into simpler, manageable steps and equipping students with tools to support their future studies.
As an Engineering graduate, I specialise in mathematics, physics, and chemistry. I offer sessions for NCEA Levels 1–3 in maths, calculus, physics, and chemistry, as well as first- and second-year university engineering subjects.
Lessons typically run for 60 minutes, but I’m flexible depending on the student’s needs and focus levels.
I have a broad range of tutoring experience across both high school and university levels, including students with intellectual or learning disabilities. I’ve previously tutored a Year 13 student in maths and physics, helping them gain entry into first-year engineering. I also worked as a first-year engineering tutor for a university hall of residence, assisting students with maths, physics, chemistry, and foundations of engineering. More recently, I’ve worked as a teaching assistant for third-year civil engineering courses, supporting students during tutorials and lab sessions.
