About Reagan

Hi! I’m Reagan, an experienced middle school English teacher with eight years in the classroom. I’m passionate about helping students become more confident readers and writers while making learning feel approachable and engaging. I love building genuine relationships with my students and creating a supportive space where it’s okay to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow. Outside of teaching, I’m an avid reader, sports fan, and proud cat mom!

About the lesson

As an experienced English Language Arts teacher, I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable, supported, and confident enough to take risks. My tutoring approach is personalized to each student’s individual strengths, needs, and learning style. I focus on building skills while also helping students understand the “why” behind what they are learning.

My teaching methods include modeling, guided practice, discussion, graphic organizers, targeted reading and writing strategies, and plenty of opportunities for students to practice independently with support when needed. I break challenging concepts into manageable steps and use examples that are engaging and relevant to the student.

A typical lesson begins with a quick check-in or warm-up to review previous skills and identify what the student needs that day. We then work through a focused reading, writing, grammar, or comprehension skill together before moving into guided and independent practice. I end lessons with a short review so the student can recognize what they learned and what we should focus on next.

What sets me apart is my eight years of experience as a middle school English teacher. I understand both the academic expectations students face in the classroom and the importance of building positive relationships with students. I strive to make reading and writing feel approachable rather than intimidating, especially for students who may have struggled with English in the past.

My lessons are especially suited for upper elementary and middle school students, including students who need additional support with reading comprehension, writing, grammar, vocabulary, literary analysis, or general ELA skills. I can also support students with homework, essays, test preparation, and strengthening foundational skills.
