Here is a typical lesson plan for a student who wants to learn how to make a doctor's appointment and visit them for a check-up.
Warm-up: Begin with a brief discussion about the importance of healthcare and doctor's visits. Ask student if they have had any experience visiting a doctor or making appointments.
Vocabulary Building: Present essential medical vocabulary and phrases related to doctor's appointments, such as "appointment," "symptoms," "prescription," and "health insurance." This will be done through PowerPoint Slides.
Interactive Learning: Introduce a Kahoot quiz related to doctor's appointments and medical vocabulary. Include questions about making appointments, describing symptoms, and understanding doctor's instructions. Ensure that the quiz is engaging and competitive.
After the Kahoot quiz, review the answers together, explaining any misconceptions and reinforcing key concepts.
Role-Play Performance: Role-play to be a doctor and make the student role-play as the patient. See if the student can handle this scenario as if it were a real-world situation. Provide constructive feedback once it is done.
Homework: Assign the student to watch a funny TV show episode or video clip that humorously depicts a visit to the doctor. Have the student jot down any interesting or new vocabulary/phrases that they have never heard before.
The homework will be discussed briefly next session and a post-lesson quiz will be taken by the student to gauge their understanding of the topic.
