About Owen

I am a dedicated flute tutor who enjoys helping students of all ages grow musically and creatively. My teaching combines mentorship, accountability, critical thinking, and creative exploration. I focus on tone, phrasing, rhythm, and breath control while nurturing expressive musicality. I also include music theory, sight-reading, and listening exercises to develop well-rounded musicianship. Creativity is central to my lessons, including improvisation, composition, and musical storytelling. I guide students to set goals, practice consistently, and track their progress. Mistakes are treated as natural learning opportunities and chances for growth. I adapt lessons to each student’s pace, skill level, and personal interests.

I act as a mentor, providing guidance, motivation, and constructive feedback. Lessons balance technical development with creative exercises to keep students engaged. I emphasise reflection, problem-solving, and independent thinking in every session. My goal is to build confidence, independence, and a love for music in every student. I also teach related subjects such as theory, rhythm, and performance preparation. I create a positive and inspiring environment where students feel comfortable experimenting. Every lesson is designed to help students become expressive, confident, and lifelong learners of music.

About the lesson

I teach flute with a focus on creativity, accountability, and thoughtful learning. I believe every student can grow into a confident and expressive musician with the right guidance. Each lesson combines structured technique practice with creative musical exploration. I act as a mentor who motivates students to think critically and express themselves through music. Accountability helps students stay disciplined and consistent in their practice. Lessons include tone, rhythm, phrasing, and breath control exercises. I also teach music theory, sight-reading, and listening skills to strengthen overall musicianship. Creativity is encouraged through improvisation, composition, and experimenting with musical ideas. Mistakes are seen as opportunities to learn and improve.

My teaching is flexible to suit different ages, skill levels, and learning styles. I emphasise reflection, problem-solving, and self-evaluation in every class. I create a supportive and positive environment for learning. I encourage students to take ownership of their progress and practice. I also teach related subjects like theory and performance skills to develop well-rounded musicians. My goal is to help students build confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of music.
