About Anne

French native, I have been tutoring local students and adults for over 10 years now. I have prepared students for A-levels, IGCSE, GCSE and IB. I have successfully tutored students who have attended a wide range of schools: Epsom &Ewell High School, Tiffin Girls, Wilsons for boys, Nonsuch for Girls, Cheam High, Kingston Grammar, Hollyfield, Challenor, the Oratory in London, etc...
I have also successfully undertaken many years ago a training to teach French to adults to answer their specific needs. I have since tutored many adults and I’m now starting a small and convivial conversation group aimed at beginners and near-beginners to develop their confidence and mostly their enjoyment of the French language.

I have been working as a French tutor for the past 10 years both for GCSE/A-level students and Adults.
I also teach French to primary children as a specialist French teacher.
I have worked as a qualified primary teacher in the UK for a couple years (from year 1 to year 4 incl.).

- Tell me about some of your current students.

Over the years I have worked with students from Tiffin's Girls, Guildford high for Girls, Challenor, Epsom and Ewell High, The Oratory in London, Kingston Grammar, Cheam High, Wilson's for boys and many others.

I also teach adults during the day: either at my home or I can go to your house or office if within a 5-mile radius.

About the lesson

I adapt each and every lesson to the students needs and their personal goals. I worked in translation and international marketing before becoming a teacher in England (and still run a successful translation business) therefore I can cater for a wide range of needs: from the GCSE student who may need to work on his grammar to the professional adult who needs to win a contract with a new French client .
I have a very deep knowledge of the French grammar but having also taught grammar to primary children as young as 7, I know how to make it accessible and can teach with age-appropriate resources and techniques. The most important thing when learning a new language is to have fun and be confident in your abilities. One of my strongest asset is to bring their confidence back to those who have lost it while studying French at school. It is your opportunity to enjoy French again! - Which subject(s) do you teach?

- Tell me about your qualifications.

I am a French native speaker with a BA in Translation and international Business and a Diplom Uebersetzer/Dolmetscher (translation) from a German University (FH Koeln). I also trained in tutoring adults who want to learn Foreign Languages at City Lit and have a PTLLS. I have also worked as a primary school teacher until recently where I was also in charge of creating and delivering the French curriculum.

- How much do you charge?

I charge £45 per hour up to GCSE and £50 for A-levels and above. Adults are charged £45 for beginners and intermediate, £50 for advanced learners.
I charge £65 per hour for one-to-two lessons depending on age/level.

If the lessons have not been cancelled properly (i.e within 48 hours) fees will still be due.

- Where do you teach?

I teach mainly from my home but if you live within a 5-mile radius, I can perhaps travel to you. Please don't hesitate to ask.
I'm located near Ewell West station so very close to Blenheim, the Glyn or even Epsom and Ewell High School.

- When are you available?

Those are the after school/evening slots that I have available :
- Monday from 6 to 7
- Wednesday from 4 to 5
- Saturday from 9.30 to 10.30

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I teach one-to-one lessons from age 11 but if you want to have a group of friends of the same level working together then this is a possibility as it would reduce the price of the tuitions if you split the cost. Please get in touch to get a quote.

I teach secondary students before they take their exams from year 7 but can also have intensive lessons to help with GCSE, IGCSE, A-level and Adults. Any exam boards. My advice is to start at least a year before the exams ie a year before GCSE/A-level to give us time to work on weaknesses and consolidate.

I also teach adults. The way I teach adults is different. I’ve been specifically trained to teach adults and hold a PTLLS for it. I adapt my teaching to their goals and to their way of learning. I mostly tend to teach adults during the day either at home/office or can be at my place. Get in touch to discuss your requirements and expectations.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

GCSE, IGCSE, A-level. Any other requests, please ask.
I have also worked with students at university level.

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

I have Skype and could also use Google Hangouts and an interactive whiteboard. I share files via google drive to share work with my students "in real time".
