About Gaynor
I am a British-French professional musician (oboe & cor anglais) trained in Scotland (MMus-RCS), Switzerland (BA) and in France. I have a teaching degree: DipABRSM as well as received training in Dalcroze, Kodály and Caruso methods. I am based in Glasgow and freelance with RSNO, Scottish Opera, Scottish Ballet, the Scottish Concert Orchestra as well as I am on the BBC SSO and the Hallé Orchestra extra player's list. I have in the past performed with orchestras and chamber ensembles in Spain, Italy, Russia, Switzerland, Hungary as part of summer festival orchestras I am a regular cover musician with Sistema Scotland, Big Noise, teaching double reeds and wind ensembles. I have recently been appointed cover teacher for the RCS Junior conservatoire I have my own private oboe class, children 8 to adults over 70. I am more than happy to welcome new students to the class! I taught privately music, oboe (and French) for the last six years children and adults of all levels in the UK, France and Switzerland. My motto is : "play a reed to make your day!", Oboe is fun ! (and eat cake too! )

A student centred approach in a safe and fun learning environment! Each lesson is tailored to each student. My lessons are designed to be fun, interactive in order to bring students to their highest potential without any stress and feeling confident about themselves. I easily adapt myself to my students’ needs and expectations! We cover all aspects of oboe playing including reeds, breathing, sight-reading and music theory/aural skills using various methods such as Dalcroze, Kodály, Caruso etc. I can prepare students for GCSE/A Levels performance exams, ABRSM, Trinity, MTB graded exams as well as entrance auditions to conservatoires in the UK and abroad. I have been teaching for the last 6 years in the UK, Switzerland and France, groups, 1-2-1 lessons, orchestra coaching in private and school settings I have a PVG and DBS, received child protection training with NSPCC and hold a teaching degree DipABRSM I teach both children and adults from beginner to advanced level Lessons are in person or over Zoom 1-2-1 and some occasional optional group workshops on a specific technique aspect are organised I wish my lessons to be accessible to all so if you have any questions or special needs, don't hesitate to get in touch and ask all your questions

My 11 year old daughter has had oboe lessons with Gaynor for over six months and my daughter and I are absolutely happy with her. I myself am a semi-professional pianist and I can tell Gaynor is truly an excellent musician and teacher. She is passionate, kind, patient and encouraging. She leads my daughter to play even the simplest pieces musically without pressure and it is delightful to watch and listen.
