About Anna

I have spent most of my life teaching and supporting students, and I especially enjoy helping teenagers who have lost confidence in maths. Many of my students come to me feeling anxious or convinced that they are “bad at maths”, and I love seeing that change over time. Alongside private tutoring, I have taught in British secondary schools and worked with students of very different abilities and backgrounds, including EAL learners and students preparing for important GCSE exams. I also run YouTube GCSE revision channel “Mrs Brown & Maths”, where I create exam walkthroughs and revision videos designed to explain maths clearly and step by step. I believe maths should be taught patiently, clearly and without unnecessary pressure, helping students build both confidence and independence alongside stronger exam results.

About the lesson

I specialise in helping GCSE Foundation and IGCSE students who feel anxious, stuck or behind in maths. My lessons are calm, structured and taught step by step, with a strong focus on exam technique and understanding rather than memorising rules.
I have more than 35 years of teaching experience, including teaching maths in British secondary schools. I use high-quality licensed resources including White Rose Maths and Save My Exams materials, alongside interactive teaching tools and exam-style questions tailored to each student’s needs and target grade. Lessons are taught online using an interactive whiteboard.
Many students come to me after losing confidence in maths. My goal is to help them understand what to do, avoid common exam mistakes and pass their GCSE with confidence.

We used Anna for a couple of hour sessions to help our son brush up on his quadratic simultaneous equations at a higher level before his mock GCSE exams, and she was fantastic. Her lessons were very engaging and well-presented, which really put our son at ease. This was a massive help and really made our son feel more prepared and confident. I would recommend Anna to anyone seeking all levels of maths tuition and will definitely be using her again when our other children are preparing for upcoming exams.
