About Brian
Brian Hayes has taught private guitar and fretted-instrument lessons throughout the Greater Orlando area since 1996 and also teaches students online via Zoom. His background includes electric, acoustic, and nylon-string guitar in rock, metal, classical, and flamenco, with formal training in classical guitar and classical piano.
Over 30 years of teaching, he has developed a structured, step-by-step approach for students from beginner through advanced levels. He is also the author of guitar method and repertoire books and has created extensive original teaching materials covering technique, note reading, rhythm, chords, scales, music theory, and musicianship.

Lessons are tailored to each student’s age, experience, musical interests, and goals. Beginners are given a clear foundation in technique, note reading, chords, rhythm, and music theory, while intermediate and advanced students can focus more specifically on repertoire, improvisation, scales, technique, musicianship, and the styles they want to pursue.
For younger beginners, I use a structured method that develops reading and playing skills gradually while introducing familiar music as early as possible. Adult students may follow a more customized path based on their individual goals and musical interests. My own instructional materials and method-book approach are incorporated where appropriate so that each student has an organized course of study without losing sight of the music they actually want to play.
