About Margaret
"I have spent the last seven years sharing my deep love for the guitar with students of all levels. Holding a Diploma of Music with a guitar specialization, I focus heavily on ensemble coaching for bands, duos, and acoustic jam groups. My unique teaching method is built around real rehearsals that emphasize active listening, precise timing, and tight musical arrangements. I know how intimidating it can be to step onto a stage for the very first time.
I once coached a group of nervous adult students who had never played together outside of their bedrooms. By focusing on how to lock in with the rhythm and listen to each other, they put on a flawless local show. Watching my students transition into confident live performers is the most rewarding part of my job. We turn technical practice into actual group dynamics so you feel ready for any live setting. "I believe that the best way to master the guitar is by playing the songs you actually love. My lessons combine real-world playing with foundational skill building so you never feel bored by endless drills. We will work together to master tough techniques like barre chords and finger independence through actual music. I also focus heavily on rhythm tracking and diving into stylistic playing across blues, pop, and folk music. Every student learns differently, so I adapt my style to match your unique pace and goals.
I remember a student who wanted to play complex jazz chords but kept getting stuck on the theory. Instead of drilling scales, we analyzed his favorite jazz standard and broke the chord changes down into smooth movements. He quickly gained the confidence to improvise his own solos over the progression. I take the same supportive approach for students who need to lead live music groups with strong, steady strumming. We focus on building the fluency and expression you need to guide a room full of people. My ultimate goal is to give you the practical tools to step up and play with total confidence."
