About Graeme

I have spent a great many years as a self-taught guitarist, writing, gigging and recording. I've learnt lots from many of the talented musicians I have worked with. After a few non-musical years, I started teaching ukulele to small groups of primary school children and discovered a passion in me to share my love of music. I am DBS checked with 35 years of youth work experience. I have as a youth worker engaged with many clients in supporting them to learn both acoustic and electric guitar, on a very basic level, more as a means to help with emotional development, and provide an outlet for self-expression.

About the lesson

I am led by the student's own set of requirements with regards to the programme. I'm happy to facilitate online learning via third party tuition apps or tailor a plan which suits their musical aspirations and direction. As a father to four very musical neuro-diverse kids, I am attuned to how differently they all learn, and how much of a safety valve music can be. I can support in songwriting, song construction and arrangement, teach the basics of music theory or just help engender a deep love of jamming along to their favourite songs.

Perfect! As someone with no prior background in music, I’ve found Graeme’s weekly ukulele lessons to be incredibly effective. He acts as a trusted advisor, breaking down unfamiliar chords and strumming patterns in a way that feels natural and intuitive. I especially love how he demonstrates the musical impact of chord and rhythm changes, transforming a simple piece into something much more expressive. I grew up with him teaching me music. When i was around 13 i got a ukulele in which he taught me elvis’ cant help falling in love. He taught me very clearly and within a week i was playing it without any mistakes like muscle memory. After getting used to the ukulele he then started teaching me the guitar basics and now we share our love for music by writing songs and working on music together, he even got me playing rhythm guitar with one of the bands he is in for a gig. I couldnt ask for a better music teacher.
