About Matin
I have a background in engineering and more than 7 years of experience teaching at the university level, and I've spent years tutoring high school students in Ontario, from Grade 9 through Grade 12 courses like Advanced Functions, Calculus and Vectors, and Data Management.
I try to bring a practical, grounded approach to explaining math — drawing on my engineering background to help connect concepts to how they're actually used, and my time teaching to stay patient and clear when something isn't clicking. I don't have all the answers, but I care about taking the time to find an explanation that actually works for you.
I tutor both in-person and online, and my main goal is simple: help you understand the material and feel more confident doing it on your own.

My lessons are built around the student, not a fixed script. Every session starts with figuring out exactly where you're at — what's clicking, what isn't, and what the actual course (MPM2D, MCR3U, MHF4U, MCV4U, etc.) expects you to know by test time.
From there, I focus on building real understanding rather than quick fixes. I break concepts down step by step, connect new material to things you already know, and make sure you can explain the "why" behind a solution — not just the steps. We work through practice problems together, and I make sure to catch and correct small misunderstandings before they turn into bigger gaps.
A typical lesson includes:
A quick check-in on current coursework, homework, or upcoming tests/exams
Focused explanation of the concept giving you the most trouble
Guided practice problems, moving from simple to more challenging
A short recap at the end so you leave with a clear takeaway, not just a solved worksheet
I adjust my pace and approach depending on whether we're covering new material, reviewing for a test, or preparing for a final exam or EQAO-style assessment. Sessions are available in-person or online, and I bring the same structure and attention to both.
My goal isn't just a better grade — it's helping you feel genuinely confident tackling math on your own.
