About Mark

I earned my degree from the University of Toronto. I worked as a programmer in the business world, focusing on database-centered applications. I developed small and medium-sized programs from scratch, and I worked on teams developing large projects.

I went on to take leadership roles, as Director of Development for a major Canadian retailer and as Canadian General Manager for a web-development firm. I spent a period as a technology consultant for a Canadian bank and for an international consulting firm.

After that, I became a teacher, and that has been the most fulfilling part of my career. I love to work with students and share all I know.

About the lesson

I’ve been teaching high school Programming, grades 10-12, for over 10 years. My goal is to share the skills that will impress your own teacher, earn you great grades, and get you into the post-secondary programs of your choice. I've sent students to elite schools like Waterloo every year.

I make the learning fun and fulfilling. You will write code and build projects to be proud of. But our focus will be on your class curriculum, setting you up for success. We can do Python, JavaScript or Java.

Based on your needs, we'll use online tools or IDEs. Based on your teacher's course plan, we'll cover fundamentals like variables, conditionals, loops, and functions. For grade 12, we'll cover classes, objects, and methods. We can move ahead to algorithms and data structures.

You will learn by doing and have fun while learning.
