About Yuri

Hello! My name is Yuri, and I’m a native Japanese tutor from Fukuoka, Japan, currently living in Canada.

I enjoy helping students discover the Japanese language in a way that feels fun, relaxed, and encouraging. Many learners feel nervous when starting Japanese, but I believe that making mistakes is a natural and important part of learning. Creating a comfortable space where students feel confident speaking is very important.

I have taught many students from beginner to intermediate level, including people preparing for trips to Japan and learners who simply love Japanese culture. The lessons focus on practical communication and helping students build confidence step by step.

Outside of teaching, I love traditional Japanese culture, especially tea ceremony and kimono, and have been learning about these cultural traditions since childhood. Sharing these cultural aspects often helps students understand the language more deeply and enjoy the learning process.

I look forward to helping students begin or continue their Japanese learning journey in a friendly and supportive environment.

About My Lessons:

My lessons focus on creating a comfortable and supportive environment where students can enjoy speaking Japanese. Many learners feel nervous when starting a new language, so my goal is to help students feel relaxed and confident while practicing.

Teaching Method & Approach:
My lessons are beginner-friendly and conversation-focused. Students learn practical Japanese that can be used in real-life situations, such as traveling in Japan or having everyday conversations.

Lessons include:
- Speaking practice from the beginning
- Clear explanations of grammar and vocabulary
-Useful expressions for daily life and travel
-Cultural insights about Japan
- I also use original materials and visual explanations to make learning easier and more enjoyable.

Typical Lesson Structure:
- A short warm-up conversation in Japanese
- Learning new vocabulary or grammar
- Speaking practice using the new expressions
- Optional homework

After each lesson, students receive optional homework.
It can also be provided to help students review between lessons.

What Makes My Lessons Different:
I focus on creating a safe and encouraging space where making mistakes is okay. Lessons move at a comfortable pace so students can build confidence step by step.

Students also learn about Japanese culture, manners, and everyday communication, which helps them understand how Japanese is used in real life.
