About Matthew
I'm primarily a painter and am currently working on pictures of the sea. I also do portraits, generally now in pencil. I take a great interest in discussing art especially those involved in it themselves. I studied philosophy so like to think I can come at the problems of art from both directions: practical experience and critical imagination.

Lessons are worked out according to your interests and needs. Teaching will include reviews of your work, suggestions concerning technique, discussion of aims, discussion and study of contemporary and historical works as well as aesthetics. Sessions might take place where you work, in my studio or at a gallery.
