About Cecilia

Hi there! I’m a patient and enthusiastic Chinese tutor who teaches both Mandarin and Cantonese. I love helping people discover the beauty of the Chinese language and culture in a relaxed, supportive environment. I have a Mandarin Proficiency Certificate (Level 2-A) and a Master’s degree from the University of Manchester, where I studied Communication and Education. Over the years, I’ve worked with learners of all levels—from complete beginners to more advanced speakers—so don’t worry if you’re just starting out! Teaching Style & Methodology: Immersive Speaking Practice: I encourage active speaking and listening from the first lesson to help students gain confidence quickly. Balanced Structure: Lessons include pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, reading, and writing, with plenty of real-life examples. Cultural Context: I weave in Chinese culture, idioms, and daily expressions to make learning more meaningful and engaging. Interactive Tools: I use games, videos, short stories, and role-play to keep lessons lively and help with long-term retention. Lesson Details: Each session is typically 1 hour long, but I’m happy to adjust based on your needs or schedule. Qualifications & Experience: I hold a Mandarin Proficiency Certificate (Level 2-A), demonstrating a high level of standard Mandarin. I have experience teaching both Mandarin and Cantonese to students of different ages and backgrounds, from beginners to advanced learners.
