About Angellyn
Experienced musician with a demonstrated history of working in the music industry. Mei Yi has been awarded Distinction in MA Music focused in Piano Performance from Cardiff University, United Kingdom.
Whilst in UK, she studied with renowned scholar-concert pianist Prof. Kenneth Hamilton, Raymond Clarke, Dr. Caroline Rae and Catherine Milledge and has been invited to several masterclasses conducted by pianists such as Roy Howat, Penelope Roskell, Prof. Jennifer Ku and James Kirby.
Equally adept as a collaborative pianist, Mei Yi has rich experience working with singers, instrumentalists, choir and orchestra. She was often hired to accompany in competitions, lecture-recitals, concerts, masterclasses and jury examinations.
For vocal singing as a second instrument, in 2017, Mei Yi joined “Cardiff New Music Collective” and was a selected member of “Contemporary Music Group” directed by Dr. Robert Fokkens. Recent project included a choral music album, “Only Breath” published by Tŷ Cerdd.
With high interest in new music, Mei Yi formed "Odyssey Trio" in 2019, which the trio focuses and collaborates with living composers around the world, exploring different repertoire of piano and wind instrument combination.
