About Cynthia
Before I decided to change careers to teach English as a Second Language, I practiced law for almost 17 years. Practicing law required acute attention to detail and strong communication skills, qualities that I have applied to my teaching career. I believe that my work experience, both teaching and non-teaching, will make me an excellent tutor.

I have taught at ESL programs at Eastern Mennonite University and James Madison University over the past seven years. In these positions I have taught intermediate to advanced English to international students seeking to attend university in the United States and to immigrants seeking to improve their English skills for work and everyday life. Teaching at EMU and JMU gave me experience in tailoring my lessons to more closely reflect the needs and interests of my students. This experience will transfer over to my role as a tutor.
