About Nicholas
Math can be so much fun once you're engaged and feel the confidence that you can succeed! I've been the 'math kid' since I was little, and always loved helping others to understand it. I grew up in the SFV, then went off to UCSB to study math formally, earning an honors BS in applied math sciences. I've worked privately and professionally for almost 20 years to strengthen the minds that will shape tomorrow.
I'm very into puzzles, playing music, athletics/fitness, gaming, cooking, and just about every other objective activity out there. As well as instructing math, I love to coach sports and activities. Let's make learning fun, together!

Instructing math is teaching for life. First and foremost, I connect with a student to find out how they think, and what motivates them. Only through clear and simple planning can we, together, make progress. I individualize each lesson to cover necessary topics, and expand on them to show real-world applications. I can cover their assigned schoolwork, keeping my instruction consistent with theirs, and can also create my own material to supplement their understanding.
I do not simply teach steps to solve, but focus on learning so that my students can "Get it" so that their understanding can lead to further success. Math only builds on itself, so building a solid foundation to build upon is vital.
