About Camiel
As an alumni of Houston's Kinkaid High School and Tufts University in Boston, MA, I have always been a strong student. My SAT test scores were in the top 95% and I made a perfect score on the SAT II math subject test. Most importantly, however, I understand what kinds of habits and skills students need to develop in order to perform well in school. I am currently working towards my Texas teaching certification while working as a private tutor, because I want to start a career in education as a secondary math teacher.

I work mostly with high school and middle school students who are looking for additional instruction in math, science, and exam preparation. I try to be sensitive to how my students are feeling about their coursework because it affects how I will tailor my approach. I know some students are very frustrated with the material, some are looking for more challenge, and some just need extra reassurance. As both an artist and a lover of STEM, I can relate to a broad range of personality types, and I always try to make sure that lessons are at least a little bit fun! I can make up problems on the fly if I see a student needs extra practice with a specific technique. I also try to emphasize organizational and study skills during subject tutoring, so that students can learn how to independently manage their coursework.
