About Katherine
I genuinely enjoy teaching Mathematics and helping students discover that learning math can be both fun and rewarding. I am a patient, approachable, and encouraging teacher who takes the time to understand each student’s individual learning style and needs.
I believe that students learn best when they feel comfortable, supported, and confident. I strive to create a positive learning environment where students are not afraid to ask questions or make mistakes. I make lessons engaging and interactive, breaking down challenging concepts into simple, manageable steps.
My goal is not only to help students improve their grades, but also to help them build confidence, develop problem-solving skills, and enjoy Mathematics. Seeing a student go from saying “I can’t do this” to “I understand it!” is one of my favorite parts of teaching.

I am a qualified Mathematics teacher with over 5 years of teaching experience with the New York City Department of Education, including extensive experience preparing students for New York State Regents examinations. I also have 3 years of experience teaching IGCSE-level Mathematics following the English curriculum.
I have worked with students from diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of abilities and learning needs. My experience includes supporting students with Special Educational Needs, adapting lessons and teaching strategies to help each student build confidence and reach their full potential.

My Teaching Approach
I believe that every student learns differently. My lessons are patient, structured, and tailored to the individual student, with a focus on understanding concepts rather than simply memorizing procedures.
I break down difficult topics into manageable steps, identify gaps in understanding, and provide plenty of guided practice. Whether a student needs help catching up, wants to improve their grades, or is preparing for an important examination, I aim to make Mathematics more understandable and less intimidating.
With experience teaching both the American and English curricula, I can support students from a variety of educational backgrounds.
