About Josh
Professional and experienced mathematics tutor. A Level Mathematics and Further Maths are my most taught and tutored courses, with considerable focus towards calculus and mechanics (classical physics). I am lucky enough to have seen my students begin their degrees in mathematics and related subjects. Younger students at GCSE/iGCSE level are always welcome, and so are international IB students.
Outside of tutoring, I am a full-time theoretical physics researcher. I also have several years of very fun experience teaching in the classroom, mainly with classes of older students, high-ability students, and groups that urgently needed a boost.

Students of all ages and abilities tend to get a lot out of my lessons. My style is motivating and patient, with emphasis on breaking down tricky problems into smaller parts. I also avoid unnecessary memorisation. This approach is quite useful at A Level and especially with admissions tests where the papers are more unpredictable, and at GCSE where students often aim for a top grade.
Earlier in the academic year, students might need help learning the raw material for the first time to get a headstart, or they may wish to see a new topic presented in a different and refreshing way. Closer to exam season, many students understandably prefer to make use of past papers. I am happy to provide "booster" lessons when a student needs short-term help, and I enjoy providing long-term tutoring support with regular lessons over the course of a term or an academic year. The form of my lessons is tailored to the precise requirements and objectives of the student and the parent, so please feel free to discuss this with me.
