About Afolabi

Hello! I'm a passionate and dedicated Mathematics tutor with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and several years of experience helping students develop confidence and excel in mathematics. I have successfully taught learners from Year 6 to Year 13, including KS2, KS3, GCSE, IGCSE, A-Level, SAT, university foundation, and adult learners, supporting students from the UK and other international curricula.
I believe that every student can succeed in Mathematics when they receive clear explanations, consistent guidance, and a learning approach tailored to their individual needs. My goal is not only to improve grades but also to help students develop strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the confidence to tackle unfamiliar questions independently.
My teaching style is patient, interactive, and results-oriented. I create a welcoming environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from mistakes. Whether a student needs support with core concepts, homework, revision, exam preparation, or advanced topics, I adapt every lesson to suit their learning pace and academic goals.
My background in Computer Science strengthens my logical and analytical approach to teaching, enabling me to explain complex mathematical concepts in simple, practical, and relatable ways. About the lesson

Mathematics becomes much easier when you understand the “why” behind the method, rather than simply memorizing formulas. My lessons are designed to turn difficult mathematical concepts into clear, manageable steps while helping students become confident and independent problem-solvers.
I provide personalized online Mathematics lessons for students from Year 6 to Year 13, including KS2, KS3, GCSE, IGCSE, A-Level and SAT Mathematics, as well as students preparing for entrance examinations and those who simply want to improve their grades or strengthen their mathematical foundation.
My teaching approach begins by identifying each student's strengths, learning gaps and goals. I then adapt the lesson to their pace and ability. Concepts are explained step-by-step using worked examples, visual explanations, interactive problem-solving and carefully selected practice questions. I encourage students to ask questions freely and, importantly, to explain their reasoning so I can identify misconceptions before they become bigger problems.
I teach a broad range of topics, including fractions, percentages, ratio and proportion, algebra, equations and inequalities, graphs, functions, sequences, geometry, mensuration, trigonometry, probability, statistics, vectors, logarithms, indices, coordinate geometry and calculus, depending on the student's level and curriculum.
For students preparing for GCSE, IGCSE, A-Level and SAT examinations, lessons can be strongly exam-focused, incorporating past-paper questions, exam techniques, time management, common mistakes and strategies for approaching challenging questions.
A typical lesson lasts 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the student's age, level and learning goals. Lessons usually combine concept explanation, guided examples, independent practice and a short review to ensure the student genuinely understands what has been taught.
With my experience teaching Mathematics to students across different levels and curricula, I understand that no two learners are exactly alike. Whether a student is struggling with the basics, aiming to move up a grade, preparing for an important examination, or looking for more challenging Mathematics, I tailor my teaching accordingly.
My goal is simple: not just to help students get the correct answer, but to help them understand Mathematics well enough to confidently find the answer themselves.
