About Tom

I believe everyone can achieve and make progress with the right guidance and support. In particular, anyone can "do math," and learning math enhances overall intelligence. My lessons are tailored to individual learning styles, strengths, and past experiences, using a combination of questioning, examples, discovery, and interactive resources. I typically teach students aged 12 to 18, though I have experience with learners from 10 to 30 years old. Lessons are 60 to 90 minutes long and can prepare students for exams such as GCSEs, A-Levels, MYP, IB, and QCE. With a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Surrey and a PGCE from Reading University, I’ve been teaching in secondary schools since 2016 and tutoring privately since 2013. I incorporate engaging online tools to help students explore concepts and build confidence.

Raphael learns quickly and asks good, consolidating questions. He has some gaps in his prior learning but he is keen and they are filling back up at a good speed!
