About Polyxeni
Hello everyone! I’m Miss Gkounti but my students like to call me Miss G!!
I’m excited to introduce myself here and share that I have been offering tutoring for students who want to build confidence, strengthen their understanding, and feel in control of their learning.
I’ve spent the last 5 years working in a secondary school setting, teaching learners from KS3 up to GCSE and A-level, all while tutoring alongside my school role. I’ve also had the privilege of working with learners of all needs and abilities, including students with ADHD, ASD, and other learning differences. Every student learns in their own way, and I love finding the approach that helps each one feel capable and realise that maths isn’t such a big deal after all. My qualifications is a Bachelor’s in Maths and Statistics which, I believe is a small indication that I enjoy maths a bit too much.
Why I love teaching
For me, teaching is about helping students see themselves differently. I love watching a learner go from “I can’t do this” to “Wait.. I actually get it.” Those moments of confidence and pride are what makes this work so meaningful. I enjoy breaking things down in a way that feels simple, manageable, and even enjoyable.
