About Matthew
I began tutoring during my A-Levels when I volunteered to help peers and younger students to achieve top grades whilst achieving an A* grade myself. I graduated from the University of Leeds with a 2:1 in Mathematics and Management, whilst also volunteering for the mentor scheme, where each week we met with our assigned peers to support them throughout their studies. I found this to be immensely rewarding and led me to begin working as a tutor professionally. I taught A-Level Maths online to 17 and 18 year old students thorough a parent company. I received very positive feedback and aided all my students to achieve A* and A grades, with some making great impovements on their predicted grades.

I provide Mathematics tutoring for levels up to 18 years. I will tailor lessons to each student's ability, syllabus, and desires. I have a year's professional tutoring experience, tutoring A-Level Mathematics in the UK. Upon moving to Australia I am looking to re-enter the industry.
I believe the first step to achieving productive tutoring sessions is to spend time initially building rapport with the student and maintaining a friendly environment throughout the lessons. This allows the student to feel comfortable asking questions and ultimately enjoying the sessions.
Throughout my experience tutoring, I have found that expectation management is vital to a student's success. This is the process of making students aware of what is expected of them before they begin a question, this includes highlighting areas in which they should take extra care. I also encourage students to attempt questions fully before asking for help. This will allow them to identify mistakes themselves and in turn learn from these mistakes.
It is important to motivate the student to believe that it is possible for them to achieve every mark in the exam. This will create a culture of excellence and ultimately top grades.
My lessons are one hour long and for every lesson, I will produce a lesson report identifying what we have covered and detailed comments on the student's progress.
I have consistently excellent feedback from both students and parents, about my teaching techniques and the friendly manner in which I deliver them. I look forward to hearing from you and helping you to achieve that top grade!
