About Vicky
Hello! I'm a down to earth, nature-loving scientist, who is always keen for a good sporting adventure and likes to have a few creative projects on the go.
I completed my Integrated Masters degree in 2017, with a 2.1 in Materials Science from the University of Oxford and now (hopefully!) coming close to finishing my PhD in collagen. Materials Science is an amazing combination of maths, physics, and chemistry (+ sometimes biology) applied to understanding how metals, ceramics, polymers etc. behave, and how we can alter their properties to suit our engineering needs.
Throughout my time at both school and university, tutoring has formed a fundamental part of my learning. As a result, I understand the importance of having a tutor who is passionate and confident about their subject. In each tutorial, I aim to create a friendly and open environment where students are engaged, and I can pass on my enthusiasm for maths!

Each session will be guided by you so that you get exactly what you need out of them. Before diving into the deep end with exam questions, we will start slowly with some examples that show the fundamental concepts – this way you will be able to apply it to any situation.
Once you are happy with the basics (and can explain it to me!) we can start tackling some exam questions.
I find the best way to learn is by having fun. By using examples, analogies and diagrams I hope to make the sessions engaging and enjoyable and after 55mins, leave you with a sense of achievement.
P.S.
With a neurodiverse brain (ADHD and dyslexia), my approach to understanding, and teaching, mathematical and scientific concepts is usually very visual and creative. I am aware that ‘traditional’ teaching methods can often be educationally restrictive, and as a result, I aim to give tutorials which play to the strengths of a student’s learning style.
