About Sydney

Hi! I am a graduate from Boston University's School of Music. I have about 6 years of piano experience, as well as three years teaching in beginner's piano. I have experience with student of all ages, including adults. My goal is to create a safe and positive environment for students to learn and enjoy the piano. I teach students with little to no experience. I look forward to working with you!
My favorite part about teaching piano lessons is being able to share something I have a passion for, and seeing others excited for it as well. I enjoy teaching adults because I can help them achieve what is usually a life-long dream. I enjoy teaching kids because I can see their potential, and hope they'll find passion from what I share with them. All in all, I enjoy being able to share my abilities and passion with my community, in hopes I can inspire someone else.

About the lesson

I have taught in both classroom and individual settings, and am able to cater lessons to your learning style. I studied music at Boston University, and have taught in a classroom since I graduated. I am incredibly passionate about music, and prioritize joy and appreciation of music over all things.
I offer lessons in 30, 45, and 60 minute increments. Lessons requires no previous knowledge, and includes learning to read music, translating the music to the instrument, and developing aural skills.
All lessons include detailed notes and plans for practicing at home. I am happy to offer videos of exercises or explanations so you can review at home as well. All lessons are offered as one-on-one. Free phone or video consultation for all inquiries are required before any commitments can be made.

Perfect! Sydney is simply exceptional, I couldn’t have asked for a better piano teacher for my 5yo son (and me!). She is very sweet and full of energy and knows how to teach small children, keeping them engaged and interested throughout the lesson. After every lesson she even e-mails detailed practice instructions and resources for practicing, which is extremely helpful! I am so glad we found her!

Very impressive ability to apply musical experience from other instruments to the piano. We will focus on becoming familiar with reading bass clef and translating the music you read to the keys on the piano.
