About Mayuko H

I studied Sociolinguistics at university, which gave me a deep academic understanding of how language and society interact. My interest in different cultures began when I spent a year in Mexico as an exchange student during high school. This experience taught me the challenges and joys of learning a new language from scratch, so I truly empathize with my students' journeys.

I am a bright and calm person, and as a mother of a 0-year-old son, I have developed a lot of patience and care, which I bring into my teaching style.

Outside of teaching, I have a diverse background in traditional and performing arts. I practiced classical ballet for 20 years and studied Japanese calligraphy (Shodo) for 10 years. Whether we are discussing Japanese grammar or cultural nuances, I am excited to share my knowledge and support you in a relaxed and encouraging environment. I look forward to meeting you!

About the lesson

Konnitiwa!
I am a native Japanese speaker who was raised in the Kansai region (Hyogo) of Japan. I moved to the South Bay area about two years ago, so I am familiar with the local lifestyle here.

I have a strong foundation in teaching, having completed nearly all of the 420-hour Advanced Japanese Teacher Training Course in Japan. In addition, I have 2 years of experience as a volunteer Japanese teacher in Japan, specifically focusing on beginners.

My Lesson Style:

Personalized Plan: I start by listening to your goals and interests to design a curriculum that works for you.

Thorough Preparation: I dedicate time to preparing for every session beforehand to ensure an organized and effective lesson.

Using "Minna no Nihongo": We will primarily use this reliable textbook. For online lessons, I will share my screen so we can study the materials together in real-time.

Whether you are a total beginner or starting from scratch, I will support your journey with patience and a plan designed specifically for you. Let's start learning Japanese together!
