About Eric
Hello there! I currently a Year 13 student studying at Wellington College. I am taking NCEA Level 3 English, Statistics, Chinese, as well as SCIE105 at Vic and MATH198 at Canterbury.
I have obtained NCEA Level 1, 2 and 3 certificates, all endorsed with Excellence. As well as receiving A in my A-Level Mathematics paper.
I am quite passionate about Math and Sciences, and I have tutored many of my peers and students in my school and community in STEM subjects such as Calculus, Physics, Chemistry and Statistics at various levels; generally up at Level 3 and even scholarship level. I enjoyed it a lot, and I was able to bring many of my tutees' STEM grades from Merit to Excellence in NCEA Level 2 and 3.
Over the years of high level learning and tutoring, I have also gathered a lot of learning resources, such as past papers and learning materials, for STEM subjects.
My lessons aim to not just teach students how to do questions, but also teaching them how to study and how to prepare for exams. This will immensely help students achieve to a much higher level, and will definitely be useful later on during their tertiary studies.

I firmly believe that all students have what it takes to do well in any subject, especially for STEM subjects. I am currently a high school student under the NZQA curriculum, so I would be familiar with the syllabus and what type of questions are in exams.
My lessons are designed to teach student not only how to do a specific question but to understand:
-Why an equation or an experiment would work.
-What strategies to take when encountering different problems in order to answer them.
-How to look for keywords and key information in questions to get started on it.
-How to store material into our long-term memory.
I have faced challenges as I started learning NCEA Scholarship subjects. Hence, I know what it is like to struggle in class, and what kind of help students might need at various levels.
I set specific teaching plans according to students' target grades, time investment, and gaps that need to be filled.
As a year 13 student, I am quite confident with NCEA Level 2 and 3 STEM subjects, as well as Scholarship.
I typically teach students working at NCEA Level 2 or 3 Maths and Sciences. The length of a lesson is usually between 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Eric is a very responsible tutor that effectively communicated difficult concepts and ideas to students. He explains the fundamental mechanics of different topics in subjects like Calculus, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. This allows students to truly understand in depth about what, why and how things actually work in difficult STEM subjects.
Another incredible skill that Eric passes on to students are strategies and techniques in studying as well as sitting end-of-year exams, in order to maximise the possible grade to be obtained by students of various skill levels.
Through my experience working with Eric for the past few years, I can feel that Eric is non the less a very experienced tutor. He effeciently teaches students, with visible improvements in performance from students in short periods of time. Throughout the years, I can personally see how Eric also improves as he tutors more and more students. He constantly gathers experience and reflects upon each session, constantly refining his teaching for a better effect for the students.I have known Eric for 4 years. He helped me improve in ncea level 2 and currently, level 3 calculus, chemistry and physics. He help me go from merit/achieved grades up to excellence grades. Eric constantly follows me up, asking how am I going in those subjects. He also explains content really clearly, helping me understand stuff faster. I would definitely recommend Eric as a STEM tutor.
