About Mateus
Born in Brazil, Mateus is an awarded undergraduate student at the Royal College of Music, studying oboe with Olivier Stankiewicz and Johnny Roberts. He previously studied at the Pablo Komlós Conservatory and started his degree at the São Paulo University. He was the principal Oboe at the Guarulhos Symphony Orchestra and the Experimental Orchestra where he played a wide range of symphonic works and operas at the country's most prestigious theatres and concert halls. Mateus also performed as a soloist after winning the Young Soloists Competition of his hometown and the Experimental Orchestra in 2019 and 2022. He has also played as a guest musician in professional orchestras across Brazil and the UK, the Fidelio Orchestra and the Porto Alegre Symphony Orchestra. During his student life, Mateus had masterclasses with Nick Deutsch, Jacques Tys, Kai Frömbgen, Christoph Hartmann and Celia Kraig. At the RCM, Mateus performed Opera concerts, Charlie Chaplin's film in concert and the Wind Ensemble.
