Experienced PhD Professor Teaches Math with Emphasis on Critical Thinking and Joyful Learning

I had professor Abha for discrete math and she is someone that you can always rely on for a clear explanation. Her passion in the classroom is contagious and she is never one to shy away from a hard question. If you are engaged in the lesson you will succeed and learn so much!

I had the pleasure of being a student in Professor Abha Belorkar-Guntuku’s CIS 2033: Computer Probability and Statistics course at Temple University during Fall 2024. I ended the semester with an A, and I can confidently say it was largely due to her exceptional teaching style and classroom environment.

Professor Abha has a rare ability to make complex mathematical concepts feel simple and approachable. Her classes were structured in a way that made learning feel natural. Just by attending and paying attention in class, I was able to grasp the material without feeling overwhelmed or needing hours of extra work afterward. Her lectures were clear, focused, and engaging, and she often supplemented them with mini assessments and practice questions that really helped reinforce what we were learning.

What stood out the most was her approachability and kindness. She made herself available to answer questions both during and outside of class and never made anyone feel hesitant to ask for help. Her flexible attendance policy was a breath of fresh air in a rigorous academic environment, and she always maintained a warm and respectful classroom atmosphere.

I highly recommend Abha to any student looking for a supportive, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring math tutor. Whether you’re just starting or looking to strengthen your skills, you’ll be in great hands with her.

If I could have picked one Professor to teach all the classes required by my Computer Science Degree then it would be Dr. Belorkar. Because the rhythm of her teaching style feels as if there are no obstacles in your path to learn the material. The reason is because she will have done all the legwork and set up the necessary learning materials for you to be successful. Pair it with her tone and attitude in class which is clarity personified. The apt way of describing the atmosphere in her classrooms is if everyone's on a train of learning where no one is left behind but everyone is getting one on one attention. She's truly the best Professor I had during my Undergraduate Computer Science Degree.

Abha has been an incredibly trustworthy and inspiring educator of mine. I had her as my professor for a discrete mathematics course at Temple. Not only was she an excellent educator through making sure the class understood and presenting real world examples, but she was also a caring individual. I went to Abha with concerns about my future and potential career paths. She helped me navigate the different options I had and how my personality and what I liked mixed in to each option. Out of the many teachers I've had, Abha stood out to me not only for how exciting and accessible she made learning confusing concepts, but because I felt she cared about her students and their success as individuals. Her ability to interact with others in a meaningful way has had a genuinely positive impact on who I am and where I am academically today, and other students of all ages would be lucky to have an educator truly passionate the way she is.

Abha was my professor for a Statistics course at Temple University designed for Computer Science majors, and she made a challenging subject easy to understand. She is by far the most organized and understanding professor I’ve had. Abha always listened to student feedback and was extremely accessible during office hours. Her kindness and willingness to help students were always evident. Thanks to her teaching, I found the course enjoyable and later became a tutor for other students in the same class.
