About Diana

Hello! My name is Diana Cárdenas, and I am a pianist and piano educator currently pursuing a Master of Music Education at the University of Saskatchewan.

I have a background in piano performance, collaborative piano, and private piano teaching, with several years of experience working with children and developing pianists.

My goal is to help each student become a confident and independent musician while making piano lessons enjoyable and meaningful. I believe that students learn best when lessons are adapted to their individual age, level, personality, interests, and goals.

About the lesson

What I Teach

I offer individualized piano lessons for:

Children and teenagers
Beginner and intermediate students
Adult beginners
Students interested in classical piano
Students preparing for Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) examinations
Students who want to improve their technique, sight-reading, rhythm, and musicianship
Students who simply want to learn piano for enjoyment

Lessons can include:

Piano technique
Repertoire and musical interpretation
Music reading and sight-reading
Ear training and musicianship
Music theory
RCM repertoire and exam preparation
Singing and listening activities for younger students
Performance preparation and confidence-building

Teaching Children

I particularly enjoy working with young students and creating a positive first experience with music.

For younger beginners, I combine piano playing with activities that develop rhythm, listening, music reading, coordination, and musical understanding. I believe that children should develop strong fundamentals while also experiencing the joy and creativity of making music.

My Approach

My teaching combines the structure of formal piano education with a flexible, student-centered approach.

For students following the RCM program, I can provide structured preparation for repertoire, technique, theory, and examinations.

For students who are not interested in examinations, I can create a personalized program based on their interests and goals.

Every student is different, so I adapt the repertoire, exercises, and teaching strategies to what works best for each individual.

Lesson Options

In-person lessons in Saskatoon
I can travel to students' homes within Saskatoon.

Online piano lessons
Available for students who prefer to learn remotely.

I have access to a vehicle and can accommodate in-home lessons depending on location and scheduling.

In-person lessons at my studio/online:

30 min — $22
45 min — $32
60 min — $40

In-home lessons:

Within ~10 km — +$5
~10–20 km — +$10
More than 20 km — +$15 or by agreement

Monthly Packages

For students who would like a consistent weekly schedule:

4 × 30-minute lessons — $80/month
4 × 45-minute lessons — $120/month
4 × 60-minute lessons — $150/month

Monthly packages reserve a regular weekly lesson time and offer a small discount compared with individual lessons.

Lesson Packages

I also offer packages for students who prefer to purchase several lessons in advance:

10 × 60-minute lessons — $375

Packages are ideal for students preparing for RCM examinations, recitals, auditions, or other specific musical goals.

I recommend 30-minute lessons for young beginners and 45–60 minute lessons for students who are more advanced or preparing for RCM examinations.
