About North

My name is North and I'm a pottery tutor and ceramicist. I graduated from Whitecliffe in 2020 and have been teaching or making with clay everyday since!
I teach 8-week ceramic courses across Auckland and the Coromandel, selling my own work in stores and through exhibitions. My teaching style focuses on creative expression over outcome.

About the lesson

These introductory classes are ideal for students wanting to learn how to make a variety of domestic shapes including cups, bowls and plates, using either hand building or on the wheel.

Pottery is an intuitive way of art making that anyone can do. I have taught all age groups, from children through to elderly and all have had an amazing experience. I have fallen in love with clay because the process of ceramics is like no other! Pottery is an exploration with endless possibilities.

Learn with me and we will cover all of the essential skills to making your own ceramics. We will start with hand building techniques (slab, coil and pinch pots), then move into wheel throwing (wheel hire at additional cost) and decoration. Sessions are typically 1.5-2hours long.
