About Safiya
Hi! I’m Safiya, a qualified Primary PGCE teacher with a degree in Psychology and over two years of tutoring experience across primary, secondary, and college students. I’m currently working as a primary supply teacher, which keeps my teaching skills sharp and adaptable. I’m passionate about helping students build confidence and understanding in their learning, and I tailor my approach to each student’s needs, making lessons engaging, clear, and supportive.

My maths lessons are engaging, structured, and tailored to each student’s needs. I begin by identifying the student’s current understanding, then introduce concepts using clear explanations and practical examples. Lessons often include interactive activities such as problem-solving tasks, games, and visual aids to make abstract ideas more concrete and memorable. I provide plenty of guided practice before moving to independent work, ensuring students build confidence and mastery step by step.
I particularly enjoy supporting students with challenging topics like fractions, decimals, or times tables. For example, I once helped a Year 6 student struggling with fractions by using hands-on activities like measuring ingredients and dividing them into portions. This approach helped the concept “click,” boosting both their understanding and confidence. My lessons are always positive, encouraging, and focused on helping students enjoy maths while achieving tangible progress.
