About Kayla

I have over eight years of tutoring experience working with elementary, middle, and high school students across a wide range of subjects. Many of my students have worked with me consistently for two to three years or longer, allowing me to build strong relationships with both students and their families while supporting their academic growth over time.

I have tutored independently and through multiple organizations and platforms, including Wyzant, Tutors.com, and Mathnasium. I also worked as a math, science, and SAT/ACT preparation instructor at Prestige Institute, a private tutoring academy, where I taught students with different academic abilities, goals, and learning styles.

I attended Bergen County Academies, earned my bachelor’s degree in Public Health from Rutgers University, and am currently enrolled in an accelerated nursing program. I earned a 1540 on the SAT, an 800 on the SAT Math Level 2 Subject Test, and a 34 on ACT Math.

I take professionalism seriously and strive to be dependable, prepared, patient, and responsive. My goal is to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, developing stronger academic habits, and becoming more confident and independent learners.

About the lesson

Hi, I’m Kayla! I attended Bergen County Academies, graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in Public Health, and am currently completing an accelerated nursing program at Rutgers University. My tutoring approach is personalized, patient, and focused on helping students truly understand their work rather than simply giving them answers.

A typical lesson begins by reviewing the student’s current assignments, upcoming tests, and areas of difficulty. I explain challenging concepts step by step using examples, guided practice, and techniques tailored to the student’s learning style. The student then practices independently so I can identify remaining gaps, reinforce key concepts, and build confidence.

With over eight years of tutoring experience and professional experience teaching SAT/ACT preparation, I combine a strong academic background with an encouraging and comfortable learning environment. My lessons are designed for elementary, middle, and high school students seeking support with homework, coursework, study skills, test preparation, or overall academic improvement across all core subjects.
