About Linda
I began my teaching in London for 10 years before moving abroad to teach in Bermuda and then Bahamas. I returned to teach in London schools again although these last few years I have been teaching outside of London. My experience invaluable and unique as a tutor.
Remembering my own struggles as a student, I use this with my teaching experience to motivate my students, adjusting the way I teach to suit their learning style.
I still enjoy teaching very much and I am proud when my students perform well; it gives me great pleasure to know I have played some part in someone achieving their goals and ambitions.
I know my subjects very well especially as I also mark the science summer exams for two major examination boards. It gives me a unique insight into what is expected in answering exam questions. I look to raise student self-esteem so students gain confidence eventually becoming more independent learners ready for the rigours of final exams.

The very first meeting is getting to know each other; what do they want from the tutorial, what are their expectations and the ultimate goal of the tutorials. Can we work together.
Prior knowledge begins the tutorial lesson through simple questions and answers about the topic or review of previous lesson. It could be pictures/diagram/video clip/short cartoon/quick quiz reviewing homework.
Next I would make sure they understand the objectives and what they need to do to show they have understood.
The main body of the tutorial depends on the student and the curriculum. It could involve a PowerPoint presentation, reading, a practical demonstration video. All with short check-in tasks at random to make sure they have understood. It's also a time to answer student questions. Lots of praise for good work, re-teach or change of technique if there is a problem with understanding.
The lesson ends with a summary and at least one exam question for practice.

I highly recommend Linda as a tutor. She is a family member and has helped me and many others with my GCSE science studies.
Her planning and explanations are flawless and she takes the time to focus on areas which I found most difficult.
With her help, I was able to achieve A* in my practical exam and two A’s in my double science exams.View more recommendations
