About Kevin

I am a successful science teacher with over 30 years of experience teaching in New Zealand secondary schools. In that time I have taught from Year 9 Science to assisting numerous students to achieve Scholarship Biology. Although recently retired I am still a registered teacher who continues with some relief teaching. I have also worked for NZQA since 2004 marking or leading NZQA L1 Science and L2 and L3 Biology assessments (exams).

About the lesson

I believe that all students can achieve success and modify my teaching style to assist this goal. Lesson length is typically one hour. Registered NZ teacher who has successfully taught: * Science (Years 9 - 11) * Biology (Years 11 -13, including Scholarship) * Physics (Years 11 - 12) I have also worked for many years as a community education tutor teaching science, photography, and computing. I have worked for NZQA since 2004 in the following roles: * Marker - L1 Biology (Genetics), L2 Biology (Cells) L3 Biology (Human Evolution) * Panel Leader - L1 Biology (Microorganisms); L3 Biology (Speciation) 2 years, L3 Biology (Human Evolution) 6 years A panel leader controls the marking panel for a subject, develops an appropriate marking schedule, ensures that marking is consistent, etc. With my teaching experience and working for NZQA I have not only excellent knowledge in senior Biology, but the understanding to allow students to achieve highly in NCEA assessments.

Jack is a highly motivated and able student who wanted some clarification and assistance with Level 1 Genetic Variation. His commitment to ensure that his understanding of the biological concepts being covered is commendable. Jack is in a good position to gain the higher grades that he is striving for in the NCEA Exam

Jordan's knowledge, understanding and confidence in Year 12 Biology has grown so much in less than a month. A very impressive improvement brought about by her high motivation and review of the work we covered. Jordan was well prepared for the Level 2 Biology exam and I trust she gains the good grades she was striving for. Well done :-)

Lyla is an able student who strives to understand the work we cover. Her willingness to answer previous exam papers, plus seeking help when needed, has seen her gain a significant improvement over the last few weeks. I wish her well for the NCEA L2 Biology exams.
