About Caitlin
Hi, I’m a certified Social Studies teacher with years of experience helping students succeed in World History, Economics, Personal Finance, Global Awareness, and Holocaust education. I began my career in television news, driven by a passion for informing the public. That same passion led me to education—where I now help students connect classroom learning to the real world and become more engaged, thoughtful citizens. My background in journalism and political science gives me a unique edge in helping students build critical thinking, research, and communication skills. I create a welcoming and structured environment where students feel confident asking questions, making connections, and taking ownership of their learning. Outside the classroom, I’m a wife, a mom to a wonderful daughter, and a self-proclaimed nerd. I love music, movies, fantasy novels, and all things Star Wars. I bring my curiosity and enthusiasm into every session, and I’m committed to making learning both meaningful and fun. Whether you're preparing for a test, struggling with a concept, or just want to go deeper into a topic, I’m here to help. Let’s learn together!

As a tutor, my approach focuses on building meaningful connections with students and helping them see the relevance of Social Studies in their everyday lives. I believe education should empower students to become more informed, thoughtful citizens.
Teaching Method & Techniques:
I use inquiry-based learning, real-world examples, and student-centered discussions to promote critical thinking. I tailor my instruction to each student’s learning style—whether they thrive through visuals, discussion, or structure—and use current events and media to make abstract concepts more relatable.
Typical Lesson Plan:
A standard session begins with a brief review of previous material, followed by an interactive discussion or activity based on the topic (e.g., analyzing primary sources, exploring economic simulations, or debating policy issues). We then connect the topic to current events or personal experiences, ending with a short reflection or practice exercise.
What Sets Me Apart:
With a background in journalism and political science, I bring a unique perspective to historical and civic topics. I’m skilled at helping students draw connections between the past and present and between different disciplines. I create a supportive environment where students feel heard and motivated.
Who the Lessons Are For:
My lessons are ideal for high school students in World History, Economics, Civics, Personal Finance, and Holocaust education. I also support AP, IB, and honors-level students, as well as those preparing for standardized tests or college-level coursework.
Ultimately, I strive to help students not just succeed academically but also understand the world around them more deeply.
