About Adrian

Hi, I'm Adrian.

I am an experienced and dedicated bagpipes instructor with over five years of teaching and performance experience. I currently serve as Pipe Major of a Grade 3 band in Australia and have been trained by world-renowned Grade 1 professional bagpipe players. I have also performed as a solo piper at numerous public and formal events, giving me strong insight into both competitive and performance-based playing.

My teaching style is structured, supportive, and focused on long-term improvement. I place strong emphasis on correct technique, musicality, and solid fundamentals, ensuring that every student develops the skills needed to progress confidently. Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced player aiming to refine your performance, you can expect professional, well-organized lessons in a positive and encouraging learning environment.

About the lesson

My Teaching Approach:

I focus on building strong fundamentals first, then gradually developing the skills needed to become a confident, high-level bagpiper. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s experience, goals, and learning style, whether they are just starting out or aiming to compete and perform at an advanced level.

Teaching Methodology & Techniques:

Step-by-step instruction, starting with posture, blowing, and basic fingering

Strong emphasis on tone, rhythm, and musicality

Breaking down tunes into manageable sections

Practice techniques to improve consistency and control

Development of competition and performance skills for advanced players

Structured lessons with clear goals and progression

Typical Lesson Length:

Lessons are usually 30–45 minutes, allowing time for technique work, repertoire, and guided practice.

Qualifications & Experience:

Pipe Major of a Grade 3 band in Australia

Over 5 years of teaching and performance experience

Trained by world-renowned Grade 1 professional bagpipe players

Experienced solo performer at multiple events

Strong background in competition, ensemble playing, and musical development
