About Susan
I am a native speaker of English and native-level speaker of Spanish--a language lover who has also studied Portuguese and Italian. I graduated from the University of Arizona with a Master of Arts in applied linguistics in 1993 and taught at the university/community college level for approximately 12 years. I also worked with the Department of Defense as a multidisciplined Spanish and Portuguese language analyst, writer, editor, and instructor for 20 years. I started studying Spanish at 12 years old and fell in love with it, especially after spending my junior year of high school in Spain. Teaching is my passion, and I believe that ANYONE can learn another language with the right teacher, motivation, and encouragement.

I use a diverse teaching methodology tailored to individual students. I believe in using real-world materials that are meaningful and relevant to students (articles, videos, music, graphics, book excerpts, etc.). We will work on all four major skills--reading, listening, writing, and speaking, including vocabulary development and pronunciation. I can work with your existing materials or create our own. Perfect your Spanish in a relaxed, friendly, and fun environment!
