About Jason

About Me

Hello, I am a dedicated educator with a Bachelor of Science in Special Education from Austin Peay State University and a master's degree in Teaching, Learning, and Leading from Lipscomb University. Over the past 7 years, I've committed myself to the field of special education, aiding students from elementary to high school in enhancing their skills in math, written language, reading, and life skills.

My Teaching Philosophy:

To me, every student is a reservoir of untapped potential. Through empathy, patience, and individualized instruction, I aim to unlock this potential, especially when working with students with disabilities. My teaching isn't just about transferring knowledge, it's about forging deep connections, making students feel valued and understood, and guiding them towards remarkable progress.

Teaching Method and Techniques:

Personalized Instruction: I believe in the power of tailoring lessons to each student's unique learning style and requirements, ensuring the highest levels of engagement and comprehension.

Interactive Tools: Through visual aids, hands-on manipulatives, and cutting-edge technology, I make complex math concepts engaging and easy to grasp.
Real-World Connections: Contextual learning is crucial. I consistently draw links between math concepts and real-life scenarios, enhancing both understanding and retention.
Feedback Loop: Keeping channels of communication open, I encourage students to share their feedback, challenges, and accomplishments, adapting my methods in real-time to serve their evolving needs.

A Typical Lesson Involves:

Warm-up: Engaging activities to set the pace and mood.
Review: Reinforcing previous concepts and addressing lingering questions.
Introduction: Introducing new concepts using tangible examples.
Guided Practice: Collaborative problem-solving to solidify understanding.
Independent Practice: Allowing students to apply their learnings autonomously.
Discussion and Reflection: Constructive feedback, goal setting, and prepping for our next session.

What Sets Me Apart?

My years in special education have granted me profound insights into the challenges and strengths of students with disabilities. But beyond the academic, my focus remains holistic. I'm not just teaching math; I'm nurturing self-confidence, resilience, and a genuine love for learning in each student.

Who Are My Lessons For?

If you're a student with disabilities, from elementary to high school, aiming to solidify your foundational to intermediate math skills – including elementary math, prealgebra, and algebra – you're in the right place. Let's embark on this transformative journey together, championing growth, clarity, and achievement every step of the way.

This narrative captures your qualifications, your passion for teaching, and emphasizes the personalized, student-centric approach you employ. It should resonate well with potential students or parents looking for a tutor who genuinely cares about their students' progress.
